A Proverbs 31 Woman

March 18, 1915, Gladys Kelly, my beloved grandmother was born. What a Godly example of a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as friend, neighbor and Sunday School teacher, she has been and continues to be for so many. Proverbs 31:10-31 gives the qualities of a noble/virtuous woman. I have often thought how this scripture so clearly describes Granny Kelly. Words alone could never adequately express my appreciation for the life she has lived before me, her love, and faithful prayer support. My life has been richly blessed by having had her as my grandmother.
Happy 91st Birthday, Granny Kelly
We love you very much!

Joe and Hilda Visit Chiang Mai

Friends Joe and Hilda left today after visiting and working at Im Jai House here in Chiang Mai. What a small world! Who would have ever thought our city would be the destination of their mission trip. God is so good! It was a great to see them and spend time together.

I don't know who received the bigger blessing? The children at the orphanage or Joe and Hilda!

Happy Birthday Austin

Today is Austin's 11th birthday. It seems like only yesterday we were holding him in our arms for the first time. Time certainly does fly, but along the way we have made many wonderful memories. He is growing up to be a fine Christian young man.
For school today, he had to prepare an autobiography and read to the class in addition to sharing photos. This toddler picture was one of our favorites and we couldn't resist sharing it with you.
Happy Birthday Buddy, we love you very much!

The Bike!

You have probably heard us say - Chiang Mai offers lots of things but the quality may not always be the best! This is a great example. For Christmas, Jerry gave Kelly a "Thai" bike fully loaded with a back seat, basket and bell. During the break and on weekends, we could be found riding in the neighborhood. Once as Kelly hopped on for a ride, the seat was lose and basically slide her off. There was no stopping us though, she sat on the back side of the seat. Later, the handle bars became lose and moved back and forth. Jerry tightened everything up and the bike was ready to go. Today, Jerry decided to take it for a spin. As he stood and leaned slightly over on the handle bars they bent and broke tossing Jerry head first on the ground. Nothing was hurt except his pride and the poor bike is history. Austin had the idea to use it for parts! Needless to say, we have laughed and laughed over this one!

2005 in Review!

There is no one word to sum up 2005. However, there are several that come to mind.

1. Amazing. Just to see God at work.
2. Adjustments. Beginning on Jan 1 with the proposed sale of our home in MS, our family moved and adjusted remarkably in most situations. What an answer to prayer!
3. Adventures. All the changes brought one adventure after another. How exciting it has been!

May we never take for granted God’s love, goodness and protection for our family.
Looking forward to 2006. May you have a wonderful upcoming year.

Happy New Year!

Christmas Eve!

We spent Christmas Eve at a local orphanage. They requested hamburgers and one young man ate four. Austin amazed said "He is smaller than me"! What a wonderful way to spend the day. Giving and sharing God's love.

Earthquake!

Sunday afternoon as I stood in the living room, the house shook and the windows rattled. It was our first earthquake! The Bangkok Post reports that it was 4.1 on the Richter Scale with an epicenter in our district, Hang Dong. No injuries or damages were reported.

Jerry and the Hill Tribe Ladies

Jerry loves to bargain with the Hill Tribe ladies at the night market. He never buys anything but certainly has lots of fun passing time. Well, almost never buys anything, he once bought Adriann a bracelet for 10 baht! (That's 25 cents.) He's a big spender.

Harvest Time!

It's rice harvesting time. In all the area fields and villages, famers are harvesting rice. The rice turns a beautiful shade of gold prior to picking. This brings back fond childhood memories of the soy bean and wheat fields in Mississippi.

Brian Visits!

We had a great visit with Brian! How fun to have someone spend time in our home.
